Abstract

Introduction: Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology is a useful diagnostic test that can be performed on swellings at various sites in the body. It is quick and simple to perform and helps to guide further treatment. However, due to its limitations, it has to be correlated with other investigations, especially histopathological examination for confirmation. Aim: This study aims to present the concordance of the cytopathology with the histopathological results, thus getting a picture of the sensitivity of the FNAC test in various sites. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted in the Department of Pathology, Sri Muthukumaran Medical College Hospital & Research Institute, Chennai, between the years 2019-2022. Results: The results of Cytology tests of 106 cases were correlated with histopathology. Conclusion: The FNAC test is an essential diagnostic tool with varying degrees of usefulness, depending on the site and nature of lesion.
